Following the success of 2021 LP ‘An Overview on Phenomenal Nature’, this summer New York’s Cassandra Jenkins returned with a follow-up, ‘My Light, My Destroyer’ that harnessed feelings of loneliness, self-doubt and grief and turned them into – in the words of The Guardian – “a beautiful, brooding delight”. Touring in support of the record, which has also received praise from The New York Times, Mojo, Brooklyn Vegan and more, Jenkins’ place in the modern top tier of folk-pop is assured, with co-signs from former tour mates Mitski and Courtney Barnett also under her belt.
