Bebel Gilberto
Bebel Gilberto

With her rich, evocative and smoky voice and gentle blend of bossa nova and electronica, Bebel Gilberto has been enchanting fans and critics worldwide for almost 40 years and the Brazilian singer is set to make a welcome return to London in October.

Bebel presents a brand-new show interpreting the songs of her father, João Gilberto, who passed away in 2019 after a 70-year career in music, and is widely regarded as the ‘father of Bossa Nova music’.

It was following the release of 2000’s Tanto Tempo, which was nominated for two Latin Grammys and sold over a million copies, that she was launched into the mainstream and became widely regarded as one of the preeminent Brazilian vocalists of modern times.

Bebel has gone on to perform at prestigious concert halls, arenas and festivals around the globe and her music has been featured on numerous film soundtracks and TV shows including Eat Pray Love, Rio, Sex And The City and Six Feet Under.

‘Her smoky vocals and bossa-nova arrangements are the sound of stirred feelings; she can move the soul with the faintest brushstrokes.’ Pitchfork

‘The embodiment of breathy Brazilian cool.’ Entertainment

Support: Nina Miranda

For the first time in over a decade Nina performs with her most fertile collaborator, Chris Franck and, for the first time onstage, with their eldest son Johan. Nina and Chris were in the bands Smoke City, Da Lata, Shrift, and finally ZEEP and wrote August Day Song with Bebel for the album Tanto Tempo.

“The pair’s instinct for a lovely melody and Miranda’s airy vocals deliver swooning moments.” The Observer
